Definicija projektne hitrosti je naslednja: Projektna hitrost (angl. the fundamental value of the basic wind velocity vb,0): 10-minutna povprečna hitrost vetra s povratno dobo 50 let na višini 10 m nad površino nad ravnim odprtim terenom z nizkim rastjem, dovolj daleč od vetrnih ovir, neodvisna od smeri in letne dobe.RezultatiZaradi večje preglednosti smo se odločili združiti območje visokogorja z območjem večine Slovenije. V večini Slovenije je tako projektna hitrost enaka 20 m/s. To velja do nadmorske višine 800 m, ko se pojavijo korekcije, ki jih opisujemo v nadaljevanju.Cone projektne hitrosti so tri:Cona 1: projektna hitrost 20 m/s do nadmorske višine 800 m, 25 m/s za nadmorsko višino med 800 in 1600 m, 30 m/s za nadmorsko višino med 1600 m in 2000 m ter nad 30 m/s (npr. 40 m/s) za nadmorsko višino nad 2000 m.Cona 2: projektna hitrost 25 m/s. Zaobjema območje fena pod Kamniško-Savinjskimi Alpami in območje Trnovskega gozda ter Notranjske. Za nadmorske višine med 1600 m in 2000 m velja vrednost projektne hitrosti 30 m/s, nad 2000 m pa nad 30 m/s (npr. 40 m/s)Cona 3: projektna hitrost 30 m/s. Zaobjema Primorje, Kras in del Vipavske doline.",
